Meet Kaitlyn
Hi, I'm Kaitlyn, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) dedicated to helping adolescents and young adults navigate life's challenges with confidence. I earned my Master's degree from the University of Tennessee. I lived in Florida for 2 years after graduating before recently making Hawaii my home for the next few 6 months. Outside of the therapy office, you'll often find me surfing, hiking, playing volleyball, or spending time with friends.
I specialize in working with adolescents and young adult men who are experiencing life transitions, anxiety, depression, and anger management challenges. Whether you're adjusting to a new stage of life, feeling overwhelmed by stress, struggling with low motivation, or finding it difficult to manage emotions, therapy can provide a supportive space to understand what's happening and develop practical skills to move forward.
My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based treatment that focuses on the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often, the way we interpret situations influences how we feel and how we respond. By identifying unhelpful thought patterns and replacing them with healthier, more balanced ways of thinking, CBT can create meaningful and lasting change.
For individuals experiencing anxiety, CBT helps identify and challenge thoughts that fuel worry while building coping strategies to reduce avoidance and increase confidence. For depression, it encourages healthier thinking patterns while gradually increasing engagement in meaningful activities that improve mood and motivation. During periods of life transition, CBT helps clients adapt to change by developing flexible thinking, improving problem-solving skills, and building resilience. For anger management, CBT teaches clients to recognize emotional triggers, understand the thoughts that contribute to anger, and practice healthier ways of responding rather than reacting impulsively.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to identify your goals and develop practical tools that fit your life. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being yourself while building the confidence and skills needed to overcome challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.
